"On the passing of retired High Court Judge and former head of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission Sir Ronald Wilson, WA Refugee Lobby group Project SafeCom expressed its sadness and offers its sympathy with Sir Ron's family members."

Retired MLC and Project SafeCom Chairwoman Lynn MacLaren commented: "We have fond memories of Sir Ron, who has phoned our office to offer his explicit agreement with statements made and opinions expressed by our agency. Until very recently, Sir Ron displayed a keen interest in the civil response to Australia's dealings with refugees and asylum seekers, and although he admitted that his high age prevented him from taking an active role in Western Australia, he was keen to voice his agreement with our approach and our views."

We will all remember Sir Ron with fondness and love, and he will be missed as one of the most eloquent, sincere and heartfelt voices for human rights in Western Australia and Australia."
