The We Do Tube Too Farm

Hello, and welcome to some of the You Tube trailers, or links to trailers or movies we want to point you to or introduce you to.

While it's unlikely that you'll be able to watch many movies directly from our website, because they eat lots of resources, you will be able to find a growing number of direct links to them. After all, these days www.myspace.com, the place where You Tube lives, is owned by our own Rupert Murdoch, and who said we weren't patriotic? So, We Tube Too these days!

Al Jazeera TV: Seeking asylum in Australia

Al Jazeera Television
101 EAST
Nick Lazaredus
Thursday, February 25, 2010

Fleeing conflict and war, asylum seekers are risking everything they have for new lives in Australia. Increasing numbers of people, many from Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, have entered Australian waters in the past year, putting the Rudd government's border protection policy under increasing pressure.

For most of those traveling by boat, the end of the journey is mandatory detention on remote Christmas Island, nearly a thousand miles from the Australian mainland. Yet, more and more are making the journey. On this edition of 101 East we are in Australia to look at one of the toughest immigration policies in the world.

Nick Lazaredus reports from Christmas Island, and interviews Amnesty International Australia's refugee team co-ordinator Graham Thom, Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs and Settlement Services Laurie Ferguson, Christmas Island Shire President Graham Thomson and human rights advocate Jack Smit.

We Will Be Remembered For This

A Film About Australia

In 2006, a group of young people of different nationalities, backgrounds, attitudes and political views took a trip to the Baxter Detention Centre. The stories of the people they met behind the razor wire surprised, moved and challenged them.

We Will Be Remembered For This documents their journey. It is a film for everyone. It is a clear, rational and nonpoliticised look at the human issues of Australia's mandatory immigration detention policy. This film poses the essential questions surrounding Australia's refugee policy. Who are the people behind the fences? How did they come to be there? What are the psychological and legal battles they now face? How much do average Australians know about this policy, and if they knew the truth, would they want it to change?
